Here’s Why You Need to Learn CPR
You know all the tragic accidents you see on TV and you think like that’s never going to happen to you or people I care about.
That’s perfectly normal, it’s a defense mechanism. But if you find yourself in a situation where you are the only person who can save someone’s life, then knowing how to do a CPR is a must.
We spoke to Advanced Healthcare Education and they helped us understand why it is important to learn CPR.
It’s for everyone
The CPR procedure is designed so that everyone can provide the help needed. Just imagine how many lives could have been saved, or at least improved chances of survivability if CPR was administered in time.
Many Americans say that they wouldn’t know how to react in a situation when someone is having a cardiac arrest for example, either because they don’t feel capable of conducting a CPR or they can’t remember their training.
Help your loved ones
As we already mentioned, we think bad things will probably not happen to us, but if they do, and statistically many cardiac arrest or other accidents happen at home.
If you are able to perform a CPR in time, you just might be the hero that saved their loved one.
There is no place where accidents can’t happen and people immune to any sort of tragic event, so possessing the ability to help someone immediately, brings an immense joy to both you and the person affected.
There’s no greater victory than being able to save a life.
Helps boost confidence
CPR training gives you the knowledge to save a life in a critical situation. You alone have this power to be the person to react in any given situation and make decisions quickly when it really matters.
You don’t have to be a passive spectator anymore, knowing that you have the ability to help someone in need is a great confidence booster for other obstacles you come across in life.
Additionally this is a new skill you can learn, an important skill that can save people. Tell your friends as well, you should all be trained to do this because you never know when you might need it.
It’s actually fun
CPR trainings are not your regular, passive school days where the teacher just gives you some information, and you as a student need to absorb it, without an actual opportunity to test what you’ve just been told.
Everything you hear and learn in CPR classes, you will also try in practice on the spot. These trainings are interactive and they guide you through realistic situations where you might need to use your newly obtained knowledge.
They are more of a simulation than standard, monotonous lecturing.
Learn something new
Life is all about new experiences, new food to taste, places to visit, and of course, skills to learn. This a unique opportunity to experience something new, and even learn a few things about yourself and your body.
Did you know that chest compression should be applied with the same tempo as some popular music has?
Stayin Alive by Bee Gees, Heartbreaker by Mariah Carey, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper, Another one bites the dust by Queen are just some of the examples when a tempo in a song is perfect for a steady pressure needed when CPR is given.
